Mason and Schaeffer traded 1-2-3 innings in the top and bottom of the fifth inning, respectively. He then got Flintridge Prep senior shortstop Graham DesHotel to ground out for the third out, leaving two Wolves runners stranded in scoring position. Holder found himself at third with two outs. Junior designated hitter Isaac Holder singled with no outs in the bottom of the second inning.
